Rotate PDF

Rotate the PDF pages you choose by 90° and save. Files never leave your device.

No upload · Processed in your browserPDF200 MB per file (recommended)As of 2026.10.01

Only the page orientation changes. Page content isn't redrawn, so quality and text selection stay the same.

How to use Rotate PDF

  1. 1Drag and drop one PDF or pick it with [Choose files]. Page thumbnails appear
  2. 2Use the rotate buttons under each page (Rotate left 90° and Rotate right 90°) or the All pages buttons [Left 90°], [Right 90°] and [180°], then press [Start]
  3. 3Save the rotated PDF with [Download]

The big number on the result card is the number of pages. The result keeps the original name with -rotated added, as in contract-rotated.pdf. While no page is rotated, “Choose pages to rotate” is shown and [Start] can’t be pressed.

You can add one PDF at a time. We recommend up to 200 MB on desktop and 50 MB on mobile. Going over the recommendation shows a warning, but you can still continue. Files over 500 MB are not processed.

  • Example 1 · Rotate only page 2 right

    a-3p.pdf (3 pages, 2 KB) · page 2 rotated right 90° once

Measured in Chrome on desktop · test PDF with one large label per page

→ a-3p-rotated.pdf, 3 pages · 1 KB · page rotation 0°, 90°, 0° · page labels and document properties (title, author and so on) unchanged

  • Example 2 · All pages 180°

    a-3p.pdf (3 pages) · All pages [180°]

Measured in Chrome on desktop · test PDF with one large label per page

    → a-3p-rotated.pdf · all 3 pages at 180°

  • Example 3 · Pages that were already rotated

    3-page PDF with 90° rotation already set on pages 1 and 3 · page 1 right 90°, page 2 left 90°, page 3 left 90°

Measured in Chrome on desktop · test PDF with rotation added

→ Page rotation 180°, 270°, 0° (added to the existing rotation)

Example figures vary by file and device.

Rotate PDF options explained

Rotate one page
The rotate buttons under each thumbnail turn just that page 90° to the left (counterclockwise) or right (clockwise). Each press adds up, so pressing right twice gives 180°. A rotated page's thumbnail turns to match and shows the angle. Use this when only a few pages of a scan came out sideways or upside down.
All pages
[Left 90°], [Right 90°] and [180°] rotate every page at once. Good for a landscape document that was saved in portrait, or a whole batch that was scanned upside down. The turn is added to any per-page rotation you've already set.
Reset
Undoes all your rotations and goes back to the starting state. While no page is rotated, “Choose pages to rotate” is shown and [Start] can't be pressed.
What changes and what stays
This isn't a setting you can turn on or off; it always works the same way. Only each page's rotation setting changes. Page content isn't redrawn, so quality and text selection stay the same. Annotations, bookmarks and document properties (title, author and so on) aren't touched either. Pages that already have a rotation are turned further from the way they look on screen.

Rotate PDF: frequently asked questions

Are my PDFs sent to a server?

No. Rotating happens inside this browser and your files are never sent off your device. To check it yourself, follow the steps on the How it works page.

Does rotating reduce quality?

No. Pages aren't turned into images or redrawn; only each page's rotation setting changes. Text stays selectable and searchable, and scanned images aren't recompressed. The file structure is tidied up when saving, so the size can differ slightly from the original (2 KB → 1 KB for the test file).

What happens to pages that were already rotated?

They're turned further from the way they look on screen. On a page that already has a 90° rotation, pressing right 90° gives 180°, and pressing left 90° gives 0°. Thumbnails are drawn with the existing rotation applied, so just match what you see.

Will other apps show the pages rotated?

Page rotation is a standard PDF setting, so PDF viewers and printing show the pages that way. A few apps don't handle rotated pages properly, though, so open the result once in the app you'll use and check.

Can I rotate password-protected PDFs?

No. Adding a password-protected PDF shows “Password-protected PDFs can't be processed”, and the options area points you to Unlock PDF. Even a PDF that doesn't ask for a password when you open it may show the same message if it has a password restricting printing or editing. If you know the password, remove it first, then add the file again.

How it works · Engine · Notes

  • Processed in: this browser (your device)
  • Engine: pdf-lib (MIT) · PDF.js (page thumbnails) (Apache-2.0)
  • Rotating runs inside this browser with pdf-lib, and files are not sent to a server.
  • Only each page's rotation setting changes; page content isn't redrawn. Annotations, bookmarks and document properties (title, author and so on) are left as they are.
  • The file structure is tidied up when saving, so the size can differ slightly from the original.
  • Page thumbnails are drawn with PDF.js only for the pages visible on screen, for display only, and don't affect the result file.
